Mission
OrbisRepo exists to make official public records easier to find, read and cross-check, without asking anyone to trust us instead of the source.
The problem
Public decision-making leaves a record: parliamentary votes, legislation, court decisions, official statistics. In practice that record is spread across institutions, formats and languages, which makes it slow to compare and, for most people, impractical to follow.
What we do
- Collect records from official sources and keep the link to the original.
- Keep each domain (political, legal, statistical) in its own repository with its own data model.
- Connect records across repositories only where the connection can be justified, and label how it was made.
- Present all of it neutrally.
Principles
- Source first: the official publisher is authoritative.
- Neutrality: no ranking, scoring or editorialising of parties, courts or figures.
- Provenance over convenience: a record without a traceable source is not a record.
- Honesty about limits: missing is missing, derived is labelled derived.
- Language access without losing the original: translations are labelled and the original stays available.
What we are not
- Not a news organisation, political party, lobbying group or think tank.
- Not a provider of legal, financial or professional advice.
- Not the official publisher of any record.
Where we stand
OrbisRepo is early-stage. Coverage is incomplete and uneven across countries and sources. The limits are documented on each platform's own sources and methodology pages, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise.
